About Coreline
Coreline creates professional card games that make logistics and supply chain concepts tangible, memorable, and engaging to teach. Built for universities, corporate training, and serious learners, Coreline turns abstract theory into hands-on experience.
Founder story
Coreline is founded by Einar Johann Smedås, a logistics professional, entrepreneur, and lifelong gamer based in Norway.
With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and four years of experience as an entrepreneur (officially entering the market in 2024), Einar’s mission is to communicate complex knowledge in a captivating, practical way.
His path to Coreline started with a different game entirely.
From Trinity to Coreline
Einar’s first game, Trinity, began as a hobby project. He wanted a card game that allowed players to express more strategy and personality without adding unnecessary complexity. The goal was depth through simplicity.
After launch, a professor reached out and asked whether Trinity could be used in lectures. The game wasn’t designed for education, but the question sparked something: If a hobby card game could catch the attention of a professor, what could a game designed specifically for learning achieve?
That curiosity led to deep reflection and iteration. Einar began exploring how games could be used not just for entertainment, but as efficient tools to engage users and communicate knowledge in an enjoyable, memorable way.
The Coreline formula
Coreline is the result of that exploration.
The starting point was simple but strict:
What topic do I want to communicate?
How can I make it entertaining and engaging, without losing academic rigor?
For the first Coreline game, Einar focused on logistics and supply chain management – the field he knows best. He identified the five essential variables that truly drive decisions in this domain and built the game mechanics and thematics around them. Everything else was stripped away.
The result is a game that:
Reflects real-world trade-offs and KPIs
Works in classrooms and workshops
Feels like a game first, a lesson second
Why this matters
Traditional teaching often struggles to make abstract models and formulas feel real. Students and professionals may understand the theory but fail to internalize how it behaves under pressure, variability, and real constraints.
Coreline addresses this by:
Turning concepts like safety stock, lead time variability, and service levels into concrete decisions
Creating a shared experience that instructors and teams can refer back to
Making it safe to experiment, fail, and learn quickly in a compressed time frame
For Einar, this is more than a product line – it’s a way to combine his academic background, entrepreneurial experience, and passion for games into something that helps people want to learn.
The vision ahead
Coreline is designed as a platform, not a single game.
The long-term plan is to develop multiple Coreline titles covering different areas of academic curricula and business topics – from operations and inventory management to broader strategy and decision-making themes.
The goal is to inspire and motivate more people to enjoy learning, using games as the bridge between theory and practice.
